Author's comment: Finaaaallyyy here is my entry for this year's Japan Expo !
I'm really happy about getting 4th place in this crazy edition, but my real satisfaction is to have been able to actually finish a project. It's been 2 years now that I've been continuously dropping all of my projects and it feels fcking good to finally release something.

Thanks a lot to Amanystya and Twister without who this AMV would've been part of the many dropped videos :')

This was our entry for Jokertroupe Joker's Gambit IC, in which we managed to place 5th in the contest.

For this IC we had about a week to work on it and we took another week to refine the AMV. With the song pack we had different ideas for different types of videos, ranging from fun to psychedelic. But our concept with this song peaked our interest. In which we wanted to capture the personalities of the different characters through the usage of colors and elements like water, flowers, clouds etc. We also wanted to include a progression in the AMV with a growth in relationship between these characters in sync with the song.

It was frantic to work on the project with the amount of time available, but it was definitely a fun collaborative effort and we're happy with the result.

I dedicated a full year to adapting the Itachi Shinden novels into an AMV, including the genjutsu scene Itachi casts on his girlfriend, Izumi Uchiha.

Sasuke makes the decision to become Hokage, but in his own way. Inspired by Itachi's life, he recalls the final vision his brother gave him before saying farewell.

The AI Summer 2025 contest is a general-themed contest with no restrictions on the genre or subject, but in order to diversify and make the contest more interesting, we offer an additional experimental nomination - a video created using AI.

Each participant who wants to be nominated for the best use of AI must submit the making of or describe in detail the technologies used and the AI part in total must exceed more than 30% of the clip.

Let us remind you that only exclusive videos are eligible for this contest (i.e it's forbidden to release your video anywhere on the internet before it is shown at AI Summer 2025). Registration is opened till the submission deadline. You can register via on-line form; the account at AMVNews is required for registration. Entries accepted July 1st till October 1st, 2025. Prizes are reserved for winners.

A very long time ago I got the idea to do an AMV in the style of a music video with Sheryl Nome and for awhile the song I wanted to use was "White Lies" by Paul van Dyk. It wasn't until around early 2014 while doing laundry laundromat that I heard Phantogram's "Fall in Love" and it immediately clicked that this song would be a better fit for a Sheryl Nome video.

Some more years would pass and It wouldn't be until late 2019 that I decided to go all in making this video. By that time the concept had expanded to using Firebomber from Macross 7 as a backing band and Walkure as backup dancers of sorts. The decision to style the video in black and white was to hopefully blend all of the sources together, especially Macross 7 which was done on cel and putting cel animation next to digital tends to be quite a contrast.

Work began in late 2019-early2020...and then Covid happened. This project really helped me in getting through the early portion of the pandemic but even then given the amount of masking needed, it was still a bit much. Also at the time I was going through some personal and professional changes. So much so that I stopped working on the video and seriously thought about scrapping it entirely, twice.

But, few can resist the siren call of Sheryl Nome and after getting a new and better job and doing some personal care, I picked up the video again in earnest in early 2022. The goal being to have a presentable video for Nan Desu Kan's AMV contest that year.

Somehow, i was able to finish the video enough in time for the August deadline and was hoping to upload it for release in October. But I guess I underestimated how burnt out I was from that last push from January to August.

So here we are now in early 2023. This is by far the longest I have ever worked on an AMV. But I am glad that the vision I had in my head is mostly realized and hope you enjoy it.
