A very long time ago I got the idea to do an AMV in the style of a music video with Sheryl Nome and for awhile the song I wanted to use was "White Lies" by Paul van Dyk. It wasn't until around early 2014 while doing laundry laundromat that I heard Phantogram's "Fall in Love" and it immediately clicked that this song would be a better fit for a Sheryl Nome video.

Some more years would pass and It wouldn't be until late 2019 that I decided to go all in making this video. By that time the concept had expanded to using Firebomber from Macross 7 as a backing band and Walkure as backup dancers of sorts. The decision to style the video in black and white was to hopefully blend all of the sources together, especially Macross 7 which was done on cel and putting cel animation next to digital tends to be quite a contrast.

Work began in late 2019-early2020...and then Covid happened. This project really helped me in getting through the early portion of the pandemic but even then given the amount of masking needed, it was still a bit much. Also at the time I was going through some personal and professional changes. So much so that I stopped working on the video and seriously thought about scrapping it entirely, twice.

But, few can resist the siren call of Sheryl Nome and after getting a new and better job and doing some personal care, I picked up the video again in earnest in early 2022. The goal being to have a presentable video for Nan Desu Kan's AMV contest that year.

Somehow, i was able to finish the video enough in time for the August deadline and was hoping to upload it for release in October. But I guess I underestimated how burnt out I was from that last push from January to August.

So here we are now in early 2023. This is by far the longest I have ever worked on an AMV. But I am glad that the vision I had in my head is mostly realized and hope you enjoy it.

I absolutely adore Buddy Daddies, Miri is the cutest and Kazuki and Rei are the best dads. It's one season and has a complete story, so I highly recommend if you're looking for some funny/emotional family hijinks. Surely between this and Spy x Family, stories about killers who adopt kids can be a trend???

making AMVs should be about what you yourself would like to see to the source and song you've chosen, all while enjoying the process and projecting yourself and your ideas into your edit. I have always used AMVs as a form of expression, but lately I find it harder and harder to be vulnerable like that. this video was born out of that desire behind hesitancy of just wanting to express myself and what I love doing.

This is it! Me and Eric have finally combined our Sonic editing forces and made a video for the Sonic AMV Contest hosted by GamesCage. We worked really hard on this and maintaining our idea from start to finish, so we hope you all enjoy!
